Dr. Paripatyadar has carved a distinguished career in the field of chemical engineering, marked by his extensive tenure at Shell Global Solutions for three decades before retiring from this sector in 2017. His journey began as a catalytic reforming research and development engineer from 1988 to 1993 in Houston, during which time Dr. Paripatyadar honed his skills in innovative research methodologies, laying the groundwork for future contributions to the industry. Today, he remains the founder of a private mentorship group in Sugar Land, Texas, which he formed in 2018, shortly after his retirement.
Following his initial role at Shell Global Solutions, Dr. Paripatyadar was a carbon capture and utilization pilot plant engineer from 1994 to 2003. His work in this role was pivotal in advancing sustainable energy solutions, reflecting his commitment to environmental stewardship. As such, he engaged in plant operation, catalyst evaluation and selection, and model fitting. Subsequently, Dr. Paripatyadar transitioned to the position of alkylation specialist between 2000 and 2006, where he further expanded his expertise in refining processes, benchmarking data analysis, conducting best practices documentation and implementation, and more.
Dr. Paripatyadar’s career trajectory continued upward as he assumed the role of technical support engineer at the Shell Deer Park Refinery from 2006 to 2008. His technical acumen and problem-solving abilities were instrumental in optimizing refinery operations. He was also recognized during this time as the process engineer for the FCCU and supporting a maintenance turnaround in 2008. Following this, Dr. Paripatyadar became a senior technical adviser at the Shell Deer Park Site from 2008 to 2011, providing strategic guidance and support for complex projects.
In 2011, Dr. Paripatyadar took on the role of senior technologist for light ends at Shell Global Solutions in Houston, a position he held until 2017. His leadership of Global Shell Technology in sulfuric acid alkylation was crucial in driving innovation and efficiency within the organization. Concurrently, from 2015 to 2017, Dr. Paripatyadar was a STORM training coordinator for global operator training, imparting his knowledge and experience to other engineers.
Dr. Paripatyadar’s academic journey includes a Bachelor of Technology and Master of Technology in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in Mumbai, India, in 1979 and 1981, respectively. He also completed a Doctor of Philosophy in chemical engineering at the University of Houston in 1988. These academic achievements laid a strong foundation for Dr. Paripatyadar’s illustrious career.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Paripatyadar founded Kalpavruksha in India in 2019, where he has dedicated himself to fostering educational opportunities for young minds. His vision for the nonprofit school is one of growth and community impact, focusing on helping students discover their aspirations.
Dr. Paripatyadar’s contributions have been recognized with several prestigious awards from Shell, including the Outstanding Technical Network Award in 2004 and the Shell Global Excellence Award in 2008. Additionally, he received the Shell Recognition Award (SRA), underscoring his exceptional contributions to the field.
Looking ahead, Dr. Paripatyadar is focused on finalizing his project with the nonprofit school in India and envisions its continued growth and impact on the community. He is also working on writing a book titled “Becoming the Best You,” which reflects his commitment to personal development and empowerment for others.
