As part of her daily tasks, Ms. Perez is involved in every stage of her clients’ projects, from concept refinement to final prototyping and testing. Additionally, she offers expertise in computer-aided design (CAD), prototyping with advanced 3D printing technology, and electronics integration. Ms. Perez maintains approximately 10 clients, with whom she has been instrumental in helping design and develop prototypes on various projects.
Before establishing herself as a business owner, Ms. Perez was affiliated with her alma mater, Purdue University Northwest in Hammond, Indiana, between 2020 and 2023. Initially involved in advanced manufacturing workforce training, she became a design and development technician from 2021 to 2023 and an administrative assistant from 2022 to 2023. These early years provided her with the foundation expertise that she later carried into her work as a business owner.
Ms. Perez embarked on her professional journey with a solid educational foundation. She earned an associate degree from Ivy Tech Community College in 2016, where she notably participated in a rigorous academic program called the Associate Accelerated Program. Subsequently, she received a Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical engineering from Purdue University Northwest in 2021. Ms. Perez’s commitment to continuous learning is evident through her credentials as a certified associate from the SolidWorks Authorized Training Centre in 2019. Ms. Perez is now pursuing a master’s degree in industrial engineering technology to continue advancing her career.
Outside of her primary endeavors, Ms. Perez has been affiliated with several organizations, including as a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and participation in 1 Million Cups. She is also actively involved as a college of technology ambassador for STEM on the Road and has volunteered as a fundraising volunteer for PNW Formula SAE, a student design program associated with the Society of Automotive Engineers. Previously, Ms. Perez volunteered her time with the Children’s Ministry from 2013 to 2019.
In recognition of her hard work and entrepreneurial mindset, Ms. Perez was privileged to be featured in an article in Canvas Rebel in 2023. The article focused on her creative nature as an inventor and her decision to go into business for herself as the chief executive officer of AJ Mechanical Design LLC.
Ms. Perez attributes her success to the skills she acquired during her academic tenure, particularly in operating power tools and understanding 3D printing. She envisions continued growth and establishing a commercial space where customers can visit. She also intends to develop a workshop for children and others to learn her crafts and gain hands-on experience.
