With over 10 years of industry experience, he has consistently demonstrated the ability to adapt, innovate and deliver results across both the public and private sectors.
Currently, Mr. Magee serves as a DevOps consultant at Amazon Web Services (AWS) Inc., a position he has held since 2020. In this capacity, he interacts directly with enterprise clients in industries such as health care, life sciences, financial services and independent software vendors. His responsibilities include meeting with clients to build trust, assessing technical requirements, writing code and developing architectural diagrams for the AWS cloud platform. Mr. Magee is also engaged in mentoring initiatives and operates within the professional services department, focusing on project delivery after contracts are signed. His expertise in cloud migrations, modernization and cost optimization has enabled clients to achieve significant operational efficiencies and savings.
Before joining AWS Inc., Mr. Magee was a DevOps engineer at Kion, formerly cloudtamer.io, from 2019 to 2020. At this startup, he played a pivotal role as a core member of the engineering team responsible for building the company’s flagship software product. He also contributed to the professional services division by assisting the sales team with customer site visits for software setup and installation. This multifaceted experience allowed Mr. Magee to develop a broad skill set and gain invaluable exposure to both product development and client engagement.
From 2018 to 2019, Mr. Magee served as a senior DevOps engineer at Capital One in Virginia. There, he worked within card technology in the fraud department as a full-stack engineer, contributing significantly to the redevelopment of an internal software system for call center agents known as Iris. Mr. Magee’s team migrated this legacy system to a new platform called Embark, which provided advanced tools for combating fraud on customer accounts. He was instrumental in writing much of the application code and modernizing the software development lifecycle by deploying infrastructure and establishing automated pipelines.
Before being acquired by Capital One, Mr. Magee was a DevOps engineer at Sevatec Inc., where he further honed his skills in cloud systems engineering and infrastructure automation for government clients between 2017 and 2018. The previous year, he worked at Stratus Solutions in the same capacity. Mr. Magee began his professional journey in 2015 as a professional system engineer at CSRA Inc., now part of General Dynamics Information Technology Inc., where he developed software products for the U.S. Department of Defense and other government agencies. This early experience provided him with a deep understanding of AWS technologies, coding practices and infrastructure-as-code principles.
Mr. Magee’s academic background includes an undergraduate degree in computer information systems and software design from Stevenson University in 2015, followed by a Master of Business Administration from Howard University in 2024. While working toward a bachelor’s degree, he completed an internship as a summer information technology associate at Road Scholar in 2014.
Further validating his expertise, Mr. Magee received a range of certifications from AWS, including those as an artificial intelligence practitioner, security specialist, solutions architect, DevOps engineer and SysOps administrator.
Mr. Magee is an active member of several professional organizations, including the National Black MBA Association. Demonstrating his commitment to giving back, he has volunteered as a mentor with the Mustang Career Mentors Program at Stevenson University since 2021.
Throughout his career, Mr. Magee has achieved several notable milestones that underscore his dedication to continuous improvement. He has made significant contributions to open-source software projects used globally by developer communities. Notably, he developed an infrastructure tool through AWS Labs that enables developers to quickly bootstrap image pipelines within their projects, addressing an unmet need in the field and continues to be maintained by him today. Looking ahead, Mr. Magee plans to further develop his technical skills alongside his business knowledge with aspirations of launching his own consulting practice.
