Mr. Marquardt is lauded as an expert in his field, recognized for his contributions as a principal infrastructure engineer for Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin. In this capacity, he manages all information technology infrastructure for the new University of Texas Medical Center, overseeing the integration of advanced technologies, such as 5G and 6G network capabilities, robotics in health care, drone deliveries, augmented and virtual reality, and artificial intelligence workloads.
Among a range of other responsibilities, Mr. Marquardt attends planning sessions with architects to allocate space for information technology infrastructure. He also ensures alignment of future-state hardware and software for the hospital’s planned opening, and oversees backend integration of cloud services, hardware and software to merge emerging technologies into surgical, clinical and research spaces.
Before his current role, Mr. Marquardt contributed his expertise as a health care security auditing contractor for Aptiva Health in 2025, where he provided critical assessments to ensure compliance and security within health care environments. From 2023 to 2024, he served as a service engineer lead at CloudFit Software in Austin, Texas, where he led teams in delivering cloud-based solutions and managed complex service engineering projects. Mr. Marquardt began his career with CloudFit Software in 2020, where he served as a principal service engineer, focusing on the design and implementation of secure cloud infrastructure for enterprise clients.
In 2019 and 2020, Mr. Marquardt was a DevSecOps principal security engineer at 3rd Eye in Austin. His tenure at Dell Inc. in Round Rock, Texas, spanned several roles, beginning in 2006 as an enterprise technical support adviser and later as a software development engineer and principal engineer. As a principal engineer from 2015 to 2019, Mr. Marquardt led major infrastructure projects and earned multiple Silver and Bronze Awards for outstanding work, including one for automated high availability systems.
Mr. Marquardt’s experience also included serving as a senior security services consultant for Verizon in the Greater Seattle area and as a wireless architect in a contract position for SecureStream WISP, dating back to 2006. A significant portion of his early career was spent with the state of Oklahoma, where he worked for over five years while still attending college. Mr. Marquardt advanced to chief engineer for Oklahoma Human Services from 1999 to 2006, where he contributed to the development of the department’s data center, implemented automation and established standards for disaster recovery and business continuity.
Mr. Marquardt’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in e-business with a minor in information technology from the University of Phoenix, awarded in 2003. He also holds a master’s degree in computer information systems from the University of Phoenix since 2005 and a Master of Science in data science with a focus on data analysis from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, since 2019. Beyond his formal education, Mr. Marquardt has obtained numerous professional certifications that underscore his commitment to excellence and ongoing learning. He is a certified information systems security professional through the International Information System Security Certification Consortium, is an AWS certified cloud practitioner, a Citrix certified advanced administrator, and, among other credentials, a Citrix certified professional for applications and desktops.
In addition to his education, Mr. Marquardt’s expertise as a security practitioner and technology infrastructure specialist is further demonstrated by his active memberships in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the International Information System Security Certification Consortium and the Texas Beekeepers Association.
Mr. Marquardt’s commitment to community service is evident through his involvement as a barbecue cookoff team member and fundraiser for The IOU Foundation since 2024. Previously, he served as organizer and facilitator for the Hill Country Crawfish Festival, participated in Blue Santa and Brown Santa initiatives at various times, and was a team member with Coco Moo Cookers for the CMC BBQ Foundation.
As an author, Mr. Marquardt has contributed to several textbooks for Microsoft Press and O’Reilly Publishing, focusing on emerging technologies and their practical applications. Among his most significant achievements, he is particularly proud of his work with the U.S. Air Force from 2021 to 2022, where he developed the identity system for the F-35 program, facilitating secure interactions between suppliers and customers.
Mr. Marquardt attributes his success to the excellent mentors who taught him the importance of working with individuals and the value of patience and understanding. He believes that relationships are central to both personal and professional fulfillment, emphasizing the significance of how individuals treat one another. Mr. Marquardt intends to continue his work with The University of Texas at Austin, aiming to contribute to the development of a cancer research center and research hospital in Austin as a meaningful capstone to his career. Upon completion of this project, he plans to reside on his ranch and spend quality time with his family.
