Michael J. Bové, regional engineer at iHeartMedia Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in broadcasting and media.
With an esteemed career stretching across nearly 50 years, Mr. Bové demonstrates true expertise in the field of broadcast radio engineering. He began building this expertise as a technical services manager with International Tapetronics Corporation in 1978. Across almost 20 years with this company, Mr. Bové also contributed as a regional sales manager. International Tapetronics Corporation was highly regarded in the broadcast radio industry for holding 70% market share for commercials played on tape cartridge machines.
Following this strong foundation, Mr. Bové joined Service Broadcasting, now known as KKDA-FM, as a director of engineering in 1996. In 1999, he became an international sales engineer for Broadcast Electronics, a manufacturer of digital audio systems and transmitters. Through this opportunity, Mr. Bové gained experience in the manufacturing side of radio to complement his knowledge of the engineering side. He took a short break from the world of radio from 2001 to 2006, taking on the position of executive director of operations for HG Energy and Gas Limited.
Mr. Bové accepted his first role with Clear Channel Communications, which would later become iHeartMedia Inc., in 2006, when he spent several years as the director of engineering and internet technology (IT). Following that, he contributed as a senior engineer at Calhoun Communications. Starting in 2011, Mr. Bové spent nearly 10 years as the director of engineering and chief engineer at Family Life Communications, now doing business as Intentional Life Media. He also had a brief engagement as the chief engineer at Audacy Inc. from 2023 to 2024.
Since 2024, Mr. Bové has served as a regional engineer for iHeartMedia Inc. He is responsible for keeping multiple radio stations in the area functioning without disruption at all times. Demonstrating the importance of his duties, Mr. Bové is on call at all hours to respond to any problems with transmitters. The radio stations he oversees include four of the top-ranked stations in the Milwaukee market.
Later in his professional life, Mr. Bové pursued additional education to bolster his vocational path. He earned a Bachelor of Science in political science and government from SUNY Geneseo, formerly the State University of New York College at Geneseo, in 1995. Mr. Bové’s development in the field has also been supported by his affiliation with relevant organizations. He has maintained membership in The Society of Broadcast Engineers since 1971.
Among his career accomplishments, Mr. Bové is particularly proud of two moments. First, he was able to sell and service an audio switching system to The Walt Disney Company for use at Disneyland Paris, formerly Euro Disney. This endeavor afforded Mr. Bové the opportunity to spend several months in England and France, as well as a trip to Switzerland, allowing him to visit multiple historic landmarks and take in the rich culture and history of Europe. Alongside this, he marks establishing a radio station for Native American tribes as a major highlight, reflecting his passion for empowering and connecting people through his technical knowledge.
Outside of his professional achievements, Mr. Bové is a loving father to two and grandfather to three. Aside from working and spending time with his grandchildren, he spends his time building computers. Though Mr. Bové is committed to his role at iHeartMedia Inc. for the immediate future, he has started to plan for his retirement. Among his postretirement goals, he is especially eager to travel to England and France again and to visit the Louvre one more time.
