Veerendra Nath Jasthi, staff machine learning operations engineer at HCA Healthcare, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Growing up in a lower-middle-class family in India, raised by parents who were uneducated, Mr. Jasthi’s path toward a strong career was not always evident. He was undeterred by his constraints and lack of resources, however. Mr. Jasthi walked over a mile every day going to school and back, determined to pursue a professional life that would give him opportunities to grow and help others. He went on to work in the technology industry in India for six years, including as a programmer with Empress Systems Inc., a software engineer with Cartel Software and an associate consultant at Datamatics Global Services Limited.
While pursuing his master’s degree in 2016, Mr. Jasthi immigrated to the United States. Having already established himself, he soon took on the role of program analyst at Gateway Inc. In 2017, Mr. Jasthi shifted his focus to a field of particular interest to him: the intersection of technology and health care. With that area in mind, he became an application developer at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
Further developing his skills in the health care industry, Mr. Jasthi took on the position of engineer at Inovalan, a health care data and analytics company. In that capacity, he specialized in working with Hadoop, an open-source data analysis software.
Mr. Jasthi joined HCA Healthcare in 2022 as a big data engineer and later became a staff data engineer. Since 2025, he has served as a staff machine learning operations engineer at the company, focusing on implementing the latest machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) advancements into the organization’s infrastructure. Mr. Jasthi’s efforts directly support HCA Healthcare’s data scientists by improving their patient data models. Though he is not a doctor or a surgeon, he is deeply proud of his behind-the-scenes contributions to positive health care outcomes.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Jasthi attended school to learn the essentials, beginning with a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in India in 2010. After moving to the U.S. in 2016, he obtained a Master of Science in computer science from the University of Central Missouri. Committed to lifelong learning, Mr. Jasthi earned a subsequent Master of Business Administration from Campbellsville University in 2022. He has been certified as an Apache Hadoop developer via Cloudera, an Amazon Web Services solutions architect via Amazon Web Services, a data platform administrator via Hortonworks, and a generative AI leader via Google.
Beyond his career, Mr. Jasthi is devoted to fostering a healthy family life with his wife, Sravya, and his 3-year-old son, Murari. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoys playing cricket and badminton and reading research articles in his free time. Mr. Jasthi looks forward to further developing his expertise in the years ahead and advocating for the implementation and advancement of responsible and continuously validated AI services in the health care space. He believes that his work can continue to enhance the ability of clinicians to respond properly to patients more quickly and efficiently, addressing health concerns before they worsen.
