Additionally, Mr. Adireddy was instrumental in designing the hardware architecture for the iPhone 17, enabling 4K resolution at 120 frames per second, a technical achievement that required substantial computational innovation and contributed to the product’s commercial success.
Before being recruited by Apple Inc., Mr. Adireddy served as a senior software engineer at PathPartner Inc., a small startup in India, from 2015 to 2018. During this period, he continued to build on his passion for video compression technologies, which are essential for applications such as video capture, streaming and conferencing. Mr. Adireddy’s work focused on optimizing energy and bandwidth efficiency through advanced compression methods.
Leveraging his earlier expertise, Mr. Adireddy spent nearly a decade in various roles with PathPartner Technology in India. He began his tenure as a software engineer in 2007, working his way up to senior software engineer between 2008 and 2009, where he played a key role in developing proprietary technologies and expanding the company’s capabilities. Mr. Adireddy also served as a technical lead and a senior technical lead at PathPartner Technology from 2014 to 2015, before becoming a software architect. In this capacity, he contributed to the development of the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard, which was standardized in 2014. Mr. Adireddy’s research and technical leadership were integral to advancing industry standards in video encoding.
Mr. Adireddy began his professional journey at Nvidia Graphics Pvt. Ltd., NVIDIA Corporation, in 2006. His short tenure was influential in gaining foundational experience in graphics processing technologies.
Highly educated, Mr. Adireddy graduated from AP Residential School in Narsipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India, in 1997. He soon after earned a diploma in electrical and electronics from the Government Polytechnic, Warangal, in 2000. Additionally, Mr. Adireddy acquired a Bachelor of Technology in electrical and electronics from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in Kakinada, India, in 2004 and a Master of Technology in electronics and communication engineering from the Institute Computer Centre at the Indian Institute of Technology in 2006, an institution in Roorkee, India, regarded among India’s premier engineering schools during his studies.
Mr. Adireddy is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), serving as a senior member and on the technical program committee. He also contributes to research and technical progress through ACM Inc. In addition to his professional pursuits, Mr. Adireddy is committed to civic engagement and mentorship within the science and technology fields. He serves as a mentor and coach for kids’ science Olympiad clubs, leading student teams to state-level competitions at both middle school and high school levels.
As a leading researcher, Mr. Adireddy has contributed extensively to academic literature with numerous publications on video coding technologies and signal processing innovations. His works have been published in the IEEE’s professional journal.
Reflecting on his career, one of Mr. Adireddy’s most notable milestones occurred in 2015 while working as a contractor at PathPartner Technology with Advanced Micro Devices as his client. At that time, Advanced Micro Devices faced challenges competing with Intel in the video domain due to performance gaps in their chips. Mr. Adireddy led benchmarking efforts that identified these gaps and significantly improved chip performance, resulting in Advanced Micro Devices receiving a Company-Level Excellence Award for these advancements. Among other accomplishments, he has been recognized for his innovative contributions by securing several U.S. patents, underscoring his status as an expert in his field.
Mr. Adireddy attributes much of his success to his humble beginnings and his parents’ encouragement. As the first literate member of his family, he worked from age 15 to support both his own education and his younger brother’s, who now serves as a senior manager at Hewlett-Packard. Looking ahead, Mr. Adireddy aspires to contribute further to technological advancement and to uplift society by creating employment opportunities, particularly in the health care sector, where video compression technology is increasingly vital in medical imaging applications powered by computer vision.
