Throughout a distinguished career spanning more than two decades, Dr. Buyuksahin has demonstrated expertise in robotics, touch sensors and neuromodulation. Since 2018, he has served as the president and chief executive officer of Sensobright Industries LLC in Portland, Oregon, where he has led the company in pioneering advanced technologies for healthcare and beyond. Dr. Buyuksahin’s leadership has been marked by the development of innovative solutions, such as an advanced touch sensor that restores tactile feedback to surgeons during minimally invasive procedures. This technology addresses a critical need in laparoscopic surgery by enabling surgeons to regain the sense of touch lost with traditional methods. Dr. Buyuksahin’s inventions have also found application in challenging environments and are integral to the advancement of human-centric robotics.
In addition to his role at Sensobright Industries LLC, Dr. Buyuksahin has been the general manager at HTMSS High Technology Mechatronic Systems Engineering Software Research & Development Industry and Trade Ltd. Co., based in Istanbul, Turkey, since 2012. His role encompasses overall operations, utilizing his industry expertise to maintain success.
Before founding technology companies focused on robotics, touch sensors and neuromodulation, fields where he is now regarded as an expert, Dr. Buyuksahin worked in academia. He began as an assistant professor lieutenant at Kara Harp Okulu, Turkish Military Academy, in Bursa from 2011 to 2012. He then became an assistant professor, then associate professor of mechatronics at Yildiz Teknik University between 2011 and 2018 before joining Antalya Bilim University as a full professor from 2022 to 2025. Earlier in his professional journey, Dr. Buyuksahin worked as a freelance research and development software developer between 2002 and 2011.
Dr. Buyuksahin’s educational background laid the foundation for his multifaceted career. His secondary education was completed at Kadiköy Anatolian High School. He then received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Anadolu University, followed by a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, a Master of Science in mechanical engineering and a Doctor of Philosophy in mechanical engineering from Yildiz Teknik University.
A lifetime member of the Association of the United States Army, Dr. Buyuksahin is also affiliated with the Washington County Police Officers Association and the Oregon Sheriff’s Association. These memberships reflect his broad engagement with both industry-related organizations and civic-minded groups. Dr. Buyuksahin is also actively involved with Falling Walls GmbH and supports community initiatives through donations to the Beaverton School District, the Washington County Police Officers Association and the Oregon State Sheriffs’ Association.
As an expert in his field, Dr. Buyuksahin authored “Laboratory Experiments for Mechanical Engineering.” Among other accomplishments, he has secured U.S. patents in robotics sensor systems, in medtech neuromodulation devices, in image processing algorithms and for avionics control systems. He is also the sole patent owner of 165 touch sensing technologies and holds over 200 patents internationally. These innovations have attracted attention from organizations such as NASA and have positioned Dr. Buyuksahin among the world’s leading inventors.
An accomplished musician who plays over a dozen instruments, Dr. Buyuksahin composes music and performs as a lead guitarist. He also writes advertisement music for television and radio outlets, a testament to his creative versatility.
Dr. Buyuksahin was named among the Top 25 Scientists Worldwide by Falling Walls GmbH in 2019 and among the Top 10 Smartest Personalities in Robotics by Fortunes Time LLC in 2023. His commitment to advancing technology for humanity was honored with knighthood in February 2026 for his contributions to healthcare technologies, particularly those related to cancer diagnosis and treatment. Among other accolades, Dr. Buyuksahin was named Innovator of the Month by Gazetto Magazine and received a Star of Innovation Prize from YTU Yildiz Technopark.
