Christophe Tretz, Senior Patent Engineer at IBM, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in electrical engineering.
Since 2014, Dr. Tretz has provided superior service as a senior patent engineer and sector lead at IBM with over 20 years of combined experience in processor and SoC design, silicon technologies and intellectual property. He leads all of the patent engineering activities related to semiconductors, microelectronics and hardware design worldwide. In addition, he excelled with IBM as a senior engineer from 2003 to 2013, specializing in circuit design, physical implementation and technical lead on multiple microprocessors, and as a circuit designer from 1997 to 2000.
After obtaining an engineer’s degree in 1991 from the National School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Hydraulics and Telecommunications in Toulouse, France, Dr. Tretz immigrated to the United States and continued his education with a master’s degree in philosophy in 1995 and a Doctor of Philosophy in electrical engineering from Columbia University, New York in 1997. He has been affiliated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers as a member of the advisory committee, the general chair of conferences, the chair of the technology program, the chair of the International Science Conference, the chair of the local arrangement committee, treasurer and other positions.
Knowing early on in his childhood that he wanted to go into science, Dr. Tretz’s initial dream was to work in the space industry but he was eventually drawn to electrical engineering instead. In the coming years, he is hoping for continued career growth and success with IBM.
