Philip Clayton Grounds, Retired Engineer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in environmental safety and electrical and mechanical engineering.
Desiring to build airplanes and automobiles in his youth, Mr. Grounds obtained an Associate of Science from Vincennes University and followed with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical and electrical engineering from the University of Evansville, Indiana. He thereupon pursued postgraduate studies at Indiana University, Bloomington and Purdue University, West Lafayette, as well as engineering studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
For more than thirty years, Mr. Grounds excelled in the field of engineering, working for an architectural engineering and surveying company and as a senior detailer and designer for steel connections used in structures for steel-supported buildings. Additionally, he prospered as director of engineering and environmental safety for Vincennes University for 31 years, where he also taught plumbing, refrigeration, electricity and graphic arts, among other course areas.
Mr. Grounds is a lifetime member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Indiana Society of Professional Engineers and Phi Theta Kappa. He attributes his success to passion and integrity, and he has contributed to his community with volunteer work for several charitable organizations and his local church.
