With over three decades of experience, Dr. Liu has dedicated himself to the field of technology and security. Since 2022, he has excelled as a partner at SlowMist, a blockchain security firm providing security auditing and real-time monitoring services, including data monitoring, anti-money laundering, and cyberattack prevention. SlowMist collaborates with law enforcement agencies such as police departments and the FBI to enhance security measures. As the most experienced team member, he offers guidance and support, viewing his role as that of a coach. He also represents the company at conferences and engages with customers. His career also includes roles as head of imToken Infrastructure and general manager at imToken from 2021 to 2022, co-founder of PeckShield from 2018 to 2021, and senior software engineering manager at Juniper Networks from 2005 to 2018. At Juniper Networks, he helped manufacture firewalls for companies like Google, Microsoft, Verizon, and AT&T, enhancing their security in the networking space. Additionally, he was a tech lead and design engineer at China Academy of Space Technology from 1992 to 1997.
In addition to his career roles, Dr. Liu has been a consultant and subject matter expert in computer systems and blockchain for CRD since 2021, and a consultant for various US firms. He also served as an assistant professor at San Diego State University from 2003 to 2005 and at Wright State University from 2002 to 2003. He holds three patents for computer algorithms, has contributed articles to professional journals on computer security and networks, and has presented at various conferences.
Laying a solid foundation for his career, Dr. Liu pursued a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Beihang University in Beijing, China. He then moved to the United States 30 years ago, where he earned both a Master of Science in computer engineering in 1999 and a PhD in computer engineering in 2002 from the University of California, Irvine. He has published research papers in both English and Chinese, and his extensive experience working in both the U.S. and China allows him to bring a unique perspective that sets him apart in his field.
Reflecting on his career, Dr. Liu takes pride in his impressive achievements in network security, having played a significant role in developing globally used programs, particularly through his partnerships with PeckShield and SlowMist. He is also proud of completing his PhD in computer engineering from the University of California, Irvine. He attributes his success to his strong work ethic, willingness to learn and adapt, and extensive knowledge of computer networking. In the coming years, he is determined to stay current with the latest developments and advancements in the rapidly evolving blockchain industry.
