His responsibilities include conducting in-depth analyses of system improvements and experimental outcomes to evaluate performance and effectiveness, preparing detailed analytical reports and strategic recommendations to support informed decision-making, and analyzing systems to deliver strategic insights through rigorous evaluation and operational recommendations for ongoing experiments. Mr. Vartak also assesses experimental results to determine whether initiatives should be continued, modified, or discontinued, and outlines appropriate next steps. Additionally, he collaborates with colleagues to conceptualize and develop foundational data sets necessary for comprehensive end-to-end system evaluation.
First acquired by Meta in 2019 as a data engineering intern, Mr. Vartak honed his technical skills in large-scale data processing environments. He was promoted to data engineer in 2020 and to data scientist from 2021 to 2023, during which he was active on the Buyer Data Science Team and developed profitable shopping experiences via Instagram and Facebook. Earlier in his career, Mr. Vartak demonstrated leadership as a college representative for E-Cell at IIT Bombay from 2017 to 2018 and as general secretary at Thadomal Shahani Engineering College between 2016 and 2017.
Mr. Vartak’s academic background has been integral to his professional achievements. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer software engineering from the University of Mumbai in Mumbai, India. He also earned a master’s degree in computer science from New York University in New York City, where he worked as a graduate teaching assistant. The rigorous training received at these respected institutions provided Mr. Vartak with a strong technical foundation that has supported his success in building scalable systems and leading innovative projects.
During his college years, Mr. Vartak gained valuable experience as an intern at Techombay in 2017. He also completed internships as a data science intern at both Gush and DAIX-Digital Assets Information Exchange between 2018 and 2019, where he applied analytical techniques to solve business problems and optimize digital asset management. Furthermore, Mr. Vartak worked as a machine learning intern at Accrete, Inc., in 2019, where he contributed to developing advanced algorithms for real-world applications.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Vartak has demonstrated civic commitment through volunteer service with the National Service Scheme in India. He has also served as a teaching assistant with the Akanksha Foundation, contributing to educational initiatives for underserved communities.
Mr. Vartak’s most notable achievement occurred early in his career when he played a pivotal role as a data engineer in the launch of an application that scaled to 10 million users within six months across the United States and Canada. As the primary architect of the app’s data infrastructure, he built the system from the ground up to accommodate a large user base, ensuring its successful deployment.
Today, Mr. Vartak has become recognized for his expertise in machine learning, model evaluation and artificial intelligence evaluations, skills that have positioned him as an authority within his field. His achievements have been acknowledged with several honors, including a Leadership Award and a Barrister H.G. Advani Gold Medal from Thadomal Shahani Engineering College in 2018.
