In 2023, Dr. Patel began serving as a senior manager of test automation engineering at FEI Systems, a leading information technology, services and analysis organization headquartered in Maryland. In this capacity, he manages a team responsible for building out the test automation platform, conducting quarterly research to ensure alignment with market trends and stakeholder expectations, and maintaining continuous operational functionality. Dr. Patel’s leadership ensures that the in-house toolset remains competitive and effective.
Before being acquired by FEI Systems, Dr. Patel was a manager of quality engineering at Chamberlain Group from 2022 to 2023. There, he oversaw quality assurance initiatives and contributed to the enhancement of engineering processes by influencing technical teams to ensure every stage of the development lifecycle is fulfilled. Between 2018 and 2022, Dr. Patel worked for Hub Group, initially as a senior test automation engineer before being promoted to manager of test automation engineering.
Among other influential roles, Dr. Patel was affiliated with Walgreens in 2018 as a test automation architect and senior consultant, where he provided expert guidance on automation frameworks. He also excelled at Echo Global Logistics as a senior software development engineer in test starting in 2014, following an initial appointment as senior test engineer from 2014 to 2015. Earlier in his career, Dr. Patel was a software test engineer and consultant at Redbox Automated Retail LLC. There, he was instrumental in implementing automated testing solutions that enhanced product quality between 2011 and 2014.
Dr. Patel’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Engineering in electrical engineering from Sardar Patel University in 2008, a Master of Science in electrical engineering from San Francisco Bay University in 2011, and a Doctor of Philosophy in technology and innovation management from National University in 2025. He has also earned several certifications in applied generative artificial intelligence (AI) for digital transformation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in automation essentials from Automation Academy by WorkFusion, and in Scrum fundamentals from Scrumstudy Global Accreditation Body for Scrum and Agile Certification, among others.
Dr. Patel’s commitment to excellence is reflected in his membership with the Chicago Quality Assurance Association and PNSQC™. Civically engaged, he donates blood through the American Red Cross and has provided financial support to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital since 2010.
Among Dr. Patel’s scholarly contributions, he has authored several articles via ProQuest and EasyChair.org. His professional journey is further distinguished by his ongoing work on a patent for GPS navigation technology designed for individuals who are visually impaired. This system aims to provide smart navigation assistance akin to Google Maps, empowering users with greater independence.
Recognized for his expertise in technology and innovation management, programming, automation and supply chain management, Dr. Patel notably received a Certificate of Excellence from the chief technology officer at Redbox Instant by Verizon in 2013. He attributes his success to the strong support of his family.
Looking ahead, Dr. Patel aims to establish himself as a leading authority in supply chain management and innovation, while further deepening his involvement in research. He also intends to leverage AI within his patents to develop advanced, technology-driven designs that support the independence of visually impaired individuals by removing societal barriers through innovation. Additionally, Dr. Patel plans to expand his research into how technology and the Internet of Things can enhance efficiency within the U.S. agriculture sector, a field in which he has already made substantial contributions.
